About Peter

Peter James Kelso Sharman was born in Liverpool and lived in the North of England prior to settling in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire.

It was in Liverpool where he gained his training. As a member of the South Sefton Artists, a group of Professional and semi-professional artists he received one to one tuition from the leading members.

Tuition was carried out in a life class environment, forty eight weeks of the year for four years and it was here that good draughtsmanship became important to Peter and forms the basis of his figurative and semi-abstract work.

Peter works mainly in charcoal, oils and acrylics. He admires the old masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt along with Turner, Degas, Cezanne, Freud and Auerbach.

His work can be found in private collections throughout the country and also in France.
